Eastern Market Metro Park, Washington, DC

 

ATCSCI staff provided Life Cycle Cost Analysis for the $14 million project to renovate the Eastern Market Metro Park (EMMP) in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Located at 800 Pennsylvania S.E., Washington D.C. between 7th and 9th Streets, the EMMP is a six (6) parcels urban park that also includes the Eastern Market Metro Station. This unique project also represents the District’s first pursuit of ENVISION certification for sustainable infrastructure, demonstrating the City’s continued commitment to building a sustainable future. This analysis is required for ENVISION certification.  


The EMMP is primarily owned by the District Government. Once completed, it will include two age-appropriate playgrounds, a splash park, tree “bosque”, reading and sitting areas including outdoor furniture, new lighting, landscaping, pedestrian pavers, and enhanced storm water management systems. Our staff was tasked

to determine the overall costs to operate and maintain the park over its estimated 40 years of useful life. 


The deliverables for the study were to produce the following:
 

  • Detailed List of EMMP Replacement Costs

  • Estimate of Repair & Maintenance Costs Over 40 Years

  • 40 Year Life Cycle Analysis

  • Analysis of Anticipated Energy Costs

  • Square Foot Summary of Costs
